Anritsu Sweep & PIM — CommScope HL4RPV‑50‑CBAND

Created by Alec Chapman — Senior Project Engineer / Prepared for Cleveland Electric • Rev 2025-08-11

Anritsu steps — Site Master & PIM Master

Site Master — Sweep

  1. ShiftCal/SetupCable List → HL4RPV‑50‑CBAND or custom (VF 0.88 + loss points).
  2. Freq/Dist: set band start/stop: Low 698–806 · Mid/High 1710–2200 · C‑Band 3700–3980 MHz.
  3. Points/Averaging: 551 (≥401), Avg 4–16; IFBW Auto or 1–3 kHz.
  4. CalOSL at port; save cal (site/sector/band/date).
  5. Measure RL; switch to DTF RL; distance = run + ~20%; markers; export S1P (if available) + PNG.

PIM Master — PIM

  1. Select 700 / AWS / PCS; set tone pair within UL; power per plan (e.g., 2×20 W).
  2. IM order = 3rd (IM3); show dBc and dBm.
  3. Attach Low‑PIM load; self‑cal; residual ≤ −115 dBc.
  4. Baseline → light flex/tap → (optional) power sweep; log worst IM3 and product frequency.
  5. Pass/fail per plan (typical ≤ −110 dBc @ 2×20 W). Export CSV + PNG.

RL ↔ VSWR converter

dBc ↔ dBm @ carrier power

Assumes two equal tones.

Troubleshooting — quick flow

Start Test Sweep fail? Re‑cal OSL, verify VF/loss, set IFBW (1–3 kHz) Clean adapters; inspect jumpers/adapters DTF peaks off? Check length, markers, window & rise‑time; verify connector positions PIM over limit? Stabilize leads; re‑seat jumpers Clean/replace suspect hardware Tone in DL? Move tones into UL; verify IM3 (2f1−f2 & 2f2−f1) both land inside the UL window
